Eugenia Mandzhieva & Hye Park Editorial for Korean Magazine

I absolutely love this editorial with Eugenia Mandzhieva and Hye Park set on the streets of NYC. You can literally feel the energy from the photos. The hair, makeup and clothes are simply beautiful but realistic and practical. The girls are smiling and excited about their shopping trip in the city.

It's from a Korean magazine but I don't know which one it was. Was this from Korea Vogue? If so, which issue was it from? Does anyone know?

Hye Park in Photo #8 is spectacular -- she is like a burst of sunshine in that photo!! And Eugenia Mandzhieva is such an underrated model. They need to put her in more magazine editorials!

New Feature: Commentaries & Opinions

An anonymous poster commented that I have been complaining about the editorials lately. For that, I would like to say, thank you for noticing my recent complaints, or as I would like to call it, commentaries and opinions. :-)

Actually, a fellow NYC fashion blogger and I met for coffee recently and we discussed about the lack of essay on my blog. For the longest time, all I did was post the photos and said nothing. And sometimes, I would simply post the photos here, whether they were good or awful.

So I decided to try something new on the blog: add my commentary/opinion/complaint/praise on everything from fashion to editorials and ad campaigns. I am curious to see your reactions. :-)

To be fair, it wasn't complaints all the time. I did have wonderful things to say about Han Jin's editorial in Korea Vogue called, LA Confidential.

Again, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to post the comments on Asian Models Blog. I appreciate your input. And I will try to be less whiny next time.

Hye Park Ad Campaign for Tiffany & Co. Fall 2008/Winter 2009

Hye Park is in another major ad campaign! This is her 2nd major campaign this season.

But compared to last season's robin blue and white color scheme, this season's ads for Tiffany & Co. are a let down. The colors are mustard yellow, purple, ink blue and beige -- what were they thinking? Does anyone even notice the jewelries? All I see is the purple jacket.

N.B.: Love Hye! I met her in SoHo last Spring and she was so sweet and obliging for a photo-op with me. But I won't post it here cos' nobody needs to see my ugly face. :-)

Han Jin, Daul Kim & Hyun Yi Lee Editorial for Korea Harper's Bazaar, August 2008

An interesting editorial from Korea Harper's Bazaar, August 2008. The clothes are fabulous. The hair and makeup are gorgeous. But what's with the sour face? Seriously, the girls looked like they would rather be somewhere else. I mean, Daul Kim and Hyun Yi Lee looked positively miserable and Han Jin just looked bored out of her mind.

What gives? The editorial is called Arty-Fall Romance, not I Don't Want To Be Here. Did the sitting editor or stylist dropped the ball on this one? Or was it intentional? If so, what is the editorial trying to say?

Do you have an opinion on this?

In the July/August 2008 issue of V #54, top editorial models from each agencies were photographed together for a series called, Powerhouse Editorials. Super busy Daul Kim was mentioned as an up-and-comer by her agency in the accompanying article but she was not in the editorial. Was she out of town on the day of the photo shoot?

Du Juan Editorial for US Allure, August 2008

Because China is hosting the Olympic Games this year, all the major fashion magazines are featuring Chinese faces in editorials for their August issue: Vogue has Zhang Ziyi, Harper's Bazaar has Lucy Liu and Allure has Du Juan.

Sonny Zhou in Nordstrom Catalog, July 2008

It's good to see Sonny Zhou back in the US. This may be a catalog job but it pays well, better than any editorials.
